Welcome to White Mountain Creations first blog. I started this so that I could share with you something about the pictures we have taken. We love to take pictures of nature, wildlife and all of New England. We look for those surprises around every turn in the road. We enjoy sharing our stories about our "surprises", our encounters with moose, fox or just walking in the woods. We hope you will enjoy reading them and will also share your stories with us as well.
It was very cold this morning around 23 below zero. Not a comfortable temperature at all. But yet as I look around and breathe in the clean, very crisp air and look at all the beautiful snow, I realize how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place surrounded by the White Mountain National Forest. Everyday I am delighted by something new, a fox, a deer, a moose, snow flakes. I just never know what I might see as I venture out. And today it was a beautiful sunrise over the Presidential Range. Awesome! Beauty is everywhere I go here and I am always surprised and delighted with what I see as I venture out each day. I always carry my camera and keep my eyes and ears open because I never know what I might see and hear. Be prepared to be surprised and delighted in the White Mountains.
Only 17 days till Christmas and the spirit of Christmas was in the air today as people in Jefferson celebrated and shopped at the Jefferson Christmas Festival. We attended and sold products that feature our photography including many of our framed and matted prints, magnets and key chains, mouse pads and coaster sets. Again this year we made Hershey Bar Snowman. They were such a big hit that we sold out all 60+ that we had in stock. We will be busy this week making more Hershey Bar Snowman before the next craft fair December 15, 2012 at the Lafayette School in Francoinia, NH. So come check this craft fair. It should be well attended.
Other vendors were selling hand crafted Christmas gifts such as wooden snowman and Christmas trees, fresh wreaths, jewelry, knitted and crocheted items, goat milk soap, scarves made from a Malamute's undercoat plus sheep wool. There were dog sled demonstrations, wagon rides, a visit by Santa and Christmas stories read by Mrs. Claus. Katie Rose sang beautiful Christmas songs along with some local talent such as Emma Dean and other young ladies. There was free cider and pizza at the local eateries - Hometown Market and Deli and the Old Corner Store. A good time was had by all who attended. Don't miss it next year. It is always lots of fun.
A big "thank you" to all who stopped by our table at the Town of Carroll town hall on Saturday, November 24th. It was a successful day with selling several matted and framed photos and other items such as Hershey Bar snowman, greeting cards and more. It is such a good feeling when people want to buy our photographs and place them in their homes or give them as gifts. I love knowing that our photos of the North Country not only stay here but go elsewhere. And who knows if when others see the photos if they will eventually come visit the North Country.
Christmas is just around the corner and White Mountain Creations is ready to help you stuff those Christmas stockings with these cute and adorable Hershey Bar Snowman. Only $2.50. You can use them as gift card holders, put money under the wrappers or give them as they are. Who can resist the face of this snowman on Christmas morning. And besides who wouldn't enjoy a Hershey bar before breakfast.
We will be selling them at the next 2 craft fairs along with our photographs and other items - November 24th from 9 am to 3 pm in Twin Mountain at the Town of Carroll town hall and at the Jefferson Christmas Festival on December 8th from 10 to 3 pm at the Jefferson Town Hall and Jefferson Christian Church on Rt. 2.
Come support the local crafters.
The recently uploaded pictures I took in Maine are from Acadia National Park. What a beautiful place! Unfortunately the week that we were there the skies were gray most every day as well as foggy and misty but it didn't keep us from enjoying ourselves and seeing the area. Some of the places we visited on Mount Desert Island were the town of Bar Harbor; Cadillac Mountain; Jordan Pond House where you can get the most scrumptious pop-overs with butter and strawberry jam; and the coastline. Too much to do in a short amount of time. I highly recommend visiting the area.
